Beckham Returns To Training Ready For Saturday

England captain David Beckham has today returned to training ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier with Northern Ireland at Old Trafford.

Beckham missed training yesterday when he had a scan on his back - revealing nothing serious and he was able to play a full part in the session at Manchester United's training ground at Carrington earlier today.

Beckham's Real Madrid manager, Wanderley Luxemburgo, backed the former Manchester United player, saying: "Beckham is the player who works more than anyone. He makes sacrifices for the team."

Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Stewart Downing and Emile Heskey were also present after being rested for Tuesday's training following their participation in club matches on Sunday.

Andrew Johnson returned to Crystal Palace after an ankle scan.
