Coty Inc., the biggest maker of perfumes and colognes, has signed David and Victoria Beckham to market a new range of fragrances and cosmetics. Financial terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.
The range will be known as ``Beckham Beauty House'' and will use the couple's names, New York-based Coty said today in a statement. The first male fragrance under David Beckham's name will be introduced in the third quarter.
The Beckhams are together worth 65 million pounds, according to the Sunday Times. David Beckham is the captain of England's national soccer team, and Victoria is a former member of the Spice Girls. David Beckham already endorses Gillette Co. Mach3 razors, the world's best-selling lines of men's razors, as well as Adidas-Salomon AG, the second-largest sporting-goods maker.
``The Beckhams embody many of the star qualities that we seek in our brands and as a company,'' Coty Chief Executive Bernd Beetz said in the statement.
David Beckham, who last night set up Ivan Helguera's goal in Real Madrid's 1-0 win against Juventus in Europe's elite Champions League, is soccer's highest earner. The 29-year-old midfielder is paid 4.4 million pounds a year by Real Madrid and makes about 15 million pounds a year by endorsing companies including Adidas, the Daily Telegraph said in October, citing Nigel Currie of GEM Group.
