Beckham Ready For Euro 2004 Finals

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has said that the media attention on David Beckham won't have any effect on him being fit for the Euro 2004 finals in June, which are being held in Portugal.  

"I have spoken to him several times, as I normally do. He's okay. I suppose he could have done without this, but there we are," said Eriksson when asked about Beckham's private life. "When he pulls on the England shirt, he will be very focused.."  

Eriksson went on to criticise the British press for the interest in private lives. "In the country I am from, Sweden, and in Italy, it was about football, not your private life. It's much better to be on the back page than the front page."
