Beckham Missed Copa Del Rey Match

David Beckham was ruled unfit to play in Real Madrid's third-round Copa del Rey match with Eibar at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on yesterday.

The game is the third Beckham has missed since gashing his right ankle in a collision with Murcia's Argentine midfielder Jose Luis Acciari in a league game on Jan. 3. The wound required four stitches.

The star midfielder was sidelined for a 1-1 draw Jan. 7 in Madrid's first leg against Eibar and its 1-0 loss against Real Sociedad three days later.

Madrid will hope to have Beckham fit again for Sunday's league game against Real Betis as it bids to regain the league leadership. The loss to Real Sociedad left the defending champion in second place in the standings, a point behind Valencia.
